On May 5, the Innovations in Drug Delivery webinar will feature views on trends and technology from AstraZeneca, i20 Therapeutics, and top researchers.

No pharmaceutical industry professional needs to be told that they are working in a highly dynamic, extremely competitive field. To succeed, everyone in the drug development field needs to keep current and not shy away from diving into new, innovative solutions.

One corner of the industry that has seen a great deal of creativity is the field of drug delivery. From novel formulations to nanotechnology, pharma firms and their research and development partners are coming up with unique ways to get treatments to their targets, effectively and safely.

On May 5, Outsourcing-Pharma and BioPharma-Reporter will present Innovations in Drug Delivery, a free online event welcoming some of the industry’s leading minds to talk about all things relevant to the field. During the one-hour webinar, these four will each offer up an informative presentation on an important aspect of drug delivery, then we will invite the audience to put to the panel any questions that they like.

The esteemed panel of experts includes:

  • Annette Bak, head of advanced drug delivery, pharmaceutical sciences, R&D, AstraZeneca: as leader of the company’s advance drug delivery team, she has been headed new modality formulations for clinical studies--most notably vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) mRNA currently evaluated for cardiac regeneration, building intracellular drug delivery capabilities, and sponsoring initiatives on augmenting drug discovery with AI. Before joining AstraZeneca, she worked for Amgen and Merck with responsibility for small molecule and peptide formulations.
  • Ravi Srinivasan, CEO, i2O Therapeutics: his company’s mission is to develop oral biologics. Founder and CEO of the firm, Srinivasan is focused on developing breakthrough, first-in-class drug products, leveraging novel scientific discoveries. His therapeutic areas of interest and experience are oncology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and diabetes.
  • Sven Stegemann, professor for patient-centric drug product development, Graz University of Technology: Over the course of his 28-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, Stegemann has advised major pharmaceutical companies on ways they can work to elevate formulation design, development, and manufacture of pharmaceutical products, including advanced drug delivery and manufacturing technologies and controls.
  • Robert O. Williams III, professor, Division of Molecular Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery Head, The College of Pharmacy at the University of Texas at Austin: Work in Williams’s laboratory centers on efforts to enhance drug solubility and dissolution through novel particle engineering technologies, including thin-film freezing and precipitation processes. In 2019, the National Academy of Inventors named him a fellow for his body of work, including innovations in drug delivery.

Registration for the event is now open, and free thanks to the generous support of sponsors Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services. Click here to sign up for Innovations in Drug Delivery, and feel free to share the link with industry friends and colleagues you feel might benefit from the event.
