The generic drug industry’s lobbying group, the Association for Accessible Medicines, fired its president Dan Leonard Friday, according to five sources familiar with the decision. David Gaugh will move from his position as executive vice president of sciences and regulatory affairs to be the interim head of AAM, the group confirmed Monday.

Leonard pushed back on the idea he was fired, saying in a Monday statement he resigned.

“I appreciate the opportunity to lead the Association over the last two plus years. I look forward to moving on to the next chapter in my career,” it reads.
