Patients completed a dashboard survey, which gave the study a lot of qualitative measures. We struggled with when to collect the surveys. We tried collecting the surveys through a phone call after the visit and found we were not able to reach many of the patients. I am interested in doing a future survey on some of the outcomes.

There were also surveys to assess program education, diet, a self-efficacy questionnaire, and a self-assessed physical and mental health questionnaire at 0, 6, and 12 months. Participants received a $50 gift card for completing the labs and surveys. From a researcher standpoint, we need more information.

There was also an option to complete a survey to share reasons for opting out. Nudge also deployed a text message and survey to participants to get a sense for patient satisfaction with feedback on the study and text messages. There were 4 weeks to return the opt-out form, and there was a text opt-out option once the program started.

A social determinants of health convening built upon efforts of prior PCORnet SDOH workgroup and included survey development, key informant interviews, and public webinars. In 2021-2022, PCORI contracted with NORC at the University of Chicago to undertake a series of convenings to consider data infrastructure enhancements to PCORnet.

All of the surveys are completed online. Participants test positive for COVID-19 with a FDA-authorized test, register from home, are randomized remotely, receive study medication through the central pharmacy, and follow instruction until their clinical symptoms improve. ACTIV-6 is actively recruiting across 93 sites with 5,034 randomized.
