And here is our regular feature in which we highlight a different person each week. This time around, we note that Cartesian Therapeutics hired Christopher Jewell as chief scientific officer. Over the past decade, he has been a professor at the University of Maryland, where he worked on new vaccines and immunotherapies.
But all work and no play can make for a dull chief scientific officer. So in his spare time, Jewell enjoys autocross. “I like motor sports… I like approaching angles, going at a fast speed, planning out routes, control braking. In some ways it’s like planning some of the studies we do but in a scientific context… I go as fast as 140 miles an hour. I try to do this a couple of days a month, but hopefully, I’ll eventually do some racing. I’m still working on skill development and speed, though. I’d bought a 20-year-old BMW, but sold that and now looking for another car and working on my racing license.
