And here is our regular feature in which we highlight a different person each week. This time around, we note that Recludix Pharma hired Paul Smith as senior vice president, biology. Previously, he worked at Connect Biopharma as vice president, discovery biology, and before that, he was at Incyte and Novartis.
But all work and no play can make for a dull clinical development executive. So in his spare time, Smith enjoys football — or soccer, to you Yanks. “I like playing it – badly. It’s a social, informal thing. But in the past, I’d organize games among people at companies. I’m an enthusiastic defender, who has to keep up with the younger guys. So I have to play the game with more intelligence. I’m from the U.K. and my team is Arsenal. So my mood goes up and down, depending on how well the team is doing. Every weekend, I get up early due to the time difference to watch a match. It’s a borderline obsession.”
