And here is our regular feature in which we highlight a different person each week. This time around, we note that Apellis Pharmaceuticals hired Caroline Baumel as chief medical officer. She has been a professor of ophthalmology at New England Eye Center, Tufts Medical Center.

But all work and no play can make for a dull chief medical officer. So in her spare time, Baumel enjoys yoga. “Before joining (Apellis), I had a busy practice, I was doing clinical research and consulting. So yoga is away to be centered. I do it every day, and 6 in the morning is typically when I like to do a power yoga routine. I’ve probably have been doing this for over 20 years. It speaks to me physically and mentally. It’s like a moving meditation.”
