Dofetilide was found to inhibit the human Ether-à- go-go-Related Gene (hERG) encoding cardiac potassium channel, which mediates the repolarising current in the cardiac action potential (IKr). The clinical applications of the technique in routine hospital settings have been recently reviewed 13 and are illustrated diagrammatically in Figure 1.
