Ensuring reliable assays: Why the ideal microplate is an invisible one

Drug Discovery World

Early operations focused on the discovery of green fluorescent protein (GFP), which played a very big role in early drug discovery research operations using cellular assays. But it comes with surface charge that will absorb proteins, DNA, and other things, unless you do something to treat that surface.

Precision cancer therapies: Where are we?

Drug Discovery World

AVA6000 is a pre|CISION tumour-targeted form of the established chemotherapy doxorubicin; designed to limit cell penetration of the drug — and therefore its cell killing effect — until it is specifically activated by fibroblast activation protein α (FAP), which is in high concentration in many solid tumours compared with healthy tissues.

Unlocking the potential of mRNA for the future treatment of rare diseases

Drug Discovery World

mRNA enables the delivery of a transiently expressed genetic molecule that is translated into a target protein using the machinery of the host cell. Therefore, the risk for off-target insertional mutagenesis is greatly reduced. In addition, it may be easier to target the therapeutic molecule to the correct cell or tissue.

AI test could predict best cancer therapies for patients

pharmaphorum

Researchers at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London have designed a prototype test that they think could be used to predict which combinations are likely to work in cancer patients within two days. The researchers are already planning a larger follow-up study which will test 15 drugs and look at 12,000 tumour cell proteins.
